It was through his clients that Hattaway discovered a greener path. Working with leaders in the environmental movement initially sparked his interest in sustainability, so he started reading every book he could find on what he considers “one of the single most pressing issues facing humanity today.” Seeking to make a difference in his own way, Hattaway launched ecosystM.org—an environmental media company that raises awareness and funds through online content channels, branded events and new media.
In an effort to bring business and social leaders together to raise environmental awareness around restoring planetary balance, Ryan rolled out an environmental networking forum called “Type-A for Awareness.” Now in its fourth year, Type-A has become a leading environmental business network in the southeast with more than 10,000 members. The kick-off, at Ashton Kutcher’s Dolce restaurant in Atlantic Station, drew over 300 of Atlanta’s most progressive leaders on sustainability. He plans to grow the green portion of his media empire with his new website ecosystM.org, which will soon add an online magazine in addition to the informative green lifestyle content they post daily.
